A very warm welcome to everyone present here today. My name is ( your name) and I am feeling honored to share my views on the topic ie. Ambedkar Jayanti. So, firstly I would like to thank my teachers for giving me such an opportunity.

About Dr. Ambedkar Life

Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, popularly known as Babasaheb Ambedkar was born on 14th April 1891 in Madhya Pradesh in a Hindu Mahar Caste who were Dalits. He was a renowned political leader of India’s independence, a philosopher, scholar, writer, economist, and also a social reformer. He dedicated his life to fighting against the practice of untouchability and other social injustices. Also was one of the main architects of the Indian Constitution and also the chairman of the constituent assembly of India. He was the first minister of Law and Justice in independent India. That’s why to celebrate his instrumental role in Indian history, we celebrate his birthday anniversary every year to give him homage.

Ambedkar Jayanti 2023, India celebrated the 132nd Birth Anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. He is often known as the father of the Indian Constitution. Hello Everyone. Thanks for having me today. I wanted to start by saying that I’m stoked and so grateful for having this opportunity to speak before you all. It gives me great pleasure and honor to present before you a speech on Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti. Before I start my speech, I would like to quote some words from Ambedkar – “If you believe in living a respectable life, you believe in self-help, which is the best help”.

Every year it is celebrated on the 14th of April in India to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. He was born at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh in a Hindu Mahar caste Dalit family. He was commonly known as Babasaheb who was a well-known political leader and social reformer. Also considered the Chief Architect of India’s Constitution. This day is very significant and valuable for all the Indians.

Dr. Ambedkar Education

Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was a visionary leader and firmly believed in the power of education to bring about social change. He was the first child from his Mahar caste to pass the matriculation exams. He obtained his degree in political science and economics from the University of Bombay. Later he moved to America at the age of 22 only as he was awarded a scholarship at Columbia University. In 1916, Ambedkar enrolled in a Bar Course at Gray’s Inn. He believed that education is the key to any social change so he worked faithfully to promote education among Dalits. His Birth Anniversary signifies a great strength and people must promote education.

Ambedkar Political Life

Ambedkar was also a great political leader. He was invited to the Southborough Committee where he insisted for the first time on the demand for reservation for untouchables. He often led Mahad Satyagraha in which he fought for the rights of Untouchables to draw water from the tank of the town. Consequently, He was appointed as the chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee along with 6 other members. He called Article 32 the most important provision and referred to it as – the ‘Soul of the Constitution and very Heart of it’. He recommended the adoption of the Universal Civil Code and also opposed Article 370 of the constitution which gives special privileges to Jammu and Kashmir.

Conclusion

As a mark of appreciation and tribute to his immense contributions, the day of Ambedkar Jayanti was declared by the union Government as a public Holiday. Almost after 34 years of his death, he was posthumously awarded Bharat Ratna in 1990. In conclusion, he is regarded as a remarkable figure in Indian history.
