List of Republic Day Celebration Awards Recipients 2023

Bharat Ratna-

It is considered the highest civilian award in the country. The award is given in recognition of great work or achievement of the highest order in any field of human endeavor. Let us inform you that the Prime Minister recommends the candidates for Bharat Ratna to the President of India and on that basis, only these awards are given.

Padma Awards-

Padma Award is also one of the highest civilian honors in the country. It is announced annually on the eve of Republic Day. The award is divided into three categories based on the level of achievement. First comes Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.

Gallantry Awards-

On 26 January 1950, the Government of India announced the first three gallantry awards – Param Vir Chakra, Maha Vir Chakra, and Vir Chakra. The government then instituted three additional gallantry awards known as Ashok Chakra Class-I, Class-II, and Class-III on January 4, 1952. However, in January 1967, these awards were announced as new titles: Ashoka Chakra, Kirti Chakra, and Shaurya Chakra.

President’s Police Medal-

Announced on 1 March 1951, these awards were earlier known as the President’s Police and Fire Service Medal but now these awards are given to police officers of any rank or service.

Prime Minister’s National Child Award-

The award is given to youth below the age of 18 years who have made an outstanding contribution in the fields of education, social service, arts and humanities, bravery, or sports.

Jeevan Raksha Padak-

This award was instituted in 1961 and is given to a person for saving someone’s life. It is given in three categories Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak, and Jeevan Raksha Padak.

Correctional Services Medal-

The President of India honors prison staff in three categories including Distinguished Service, Meritorious Service, and Gallantry Medals in recognition of the work people do in the country’s correctional facilities.
